Comfort Dentistry

Are you or somebody you know absolutely terrified of going to the dentist? Comfort dentistry, or sedation dentistry, may be a solution! Comfort dentistry uses medication to diminish stress and anxiety in patients during different dental procedures. Patients can choose from minimal sedation (patients are awake, but relaxed), moderate sedation (formerly called “conscious sedation”), deep sedation (patients are on the edge of consciousness but may still be awakened) and general anesthesia (patients are completely unconscious). Comfort dentistry can be used in a variety of procedures from invasive, complicated dental treatments to a simple teeth-cleaning, and sedation is even safe for children. The best candidates for comfort dentistry are individuals who suffer from sensitive teeth or gag reflex, low pain threshold, restless leg syndrome or patients who need a large amount of dental work completed.
